For all the lonely souls out there, maybe a move to a new country or even a vacation could be the key to finding your perfect person.

A recent study from OffRobe has revealed the countries with the best odds of finding a partner. The research uses data such as the number of single people, marriage rates, divorce rates, and safety scores to determine where you should be looking for that special someone.

Learn a little more about the dating culture and odds of finding love in the top countries for meeting your significant other.

1. Malaysia

Malaysia lands the number one spot because of the moderately high percentage of single people and the high marriage rate. The divorce rate is low, meaning most married people stay married, which is nice to hear. There are many dating sites and apps available in the country as well. Dating here can be more conservative, but it can also share some characteristics with Western dating, as it's a diverse country.

2. United States

The US comes in second. If you already live here, good news! You might be better positioned to find your soulmate than you realize. With countless dating sites and apps, using technology to find love is common. However, many communities also host mixers and other events where people can meet. Interestingly, it can be harder to find love in densely populated places like NYC, despite what movies and TV may have you believe. People in the suburbs can be more open to dating, while cities and rural areas are trickier.

3. Singapore

Singapore takes third place despite having a low percentage of single people. Less than 30% of citizens are single, but the marriage rate is one of the highest, and the divorce rate is very low. Plus, it's considered a safe country, making it easier for people to be open and date. Like Malaysia, the population is diverse, so the options are not as limited as some other countries. Dating here can be tricky due to some societal standards. But once you understand the dating etiquette, your odds of finding love are decent.

4. Germany

Germany makes the list mainly due to its high number of single people. The country has a higher percentage of singles than Malaysia and the United States, with nearly half the population being uncoupled. The marriage and divorce rates are moderate, as is the safety ranking. So, the likelihood of meeting someone in Germany is high, but finding lasting love isn't any better than most countries. Dating in this country is generally informal and friendly, so there are no intense rules to remember.

5. Japan

Japan is one of the safest countries on this list, allowing people to openly look for love without fear of crime or violence. That might sound like a massive leap to make, but dating in dangerous countries is exponentially more difficult, so safety is important. Japan's most popular dating app is Pairs, and many residents use technology to find love, just like in the US. Dating here can be similar to dating in the US in good and bad ways, meaning it's informal and fun but can also be more casual than you want.

6. South Africa

Over half of the South African population is single and ready to mingle. The dating pool is incredibly diverse, as the country has 11 official languages and various backgrounds. The dating vibe here is more formal than in most Western countries, and some people are very formal, so you have to find the right pool to date in. Gender roles can also be strongly traditional in some social circles.

7. Ireland

Ireland ranks seventh on this list, with respectable rankings for each category. People here take dating and marriage seriously, often due to strong religious backgrounds. However, most residents are thrilled to date and open to different people. But they date to marry, and once married, divorce is practically out of the question for many Irish Catholics. Most marry for love and firmly commit to their partners.

8. United Kingdom

We were surprised that the UK ranks so low on this list, but it still makes it. The stats are similar to Ireland's, excluding the UK's divorce rate, which is more than double Ireland's. This discrepancy is likely due to the religious attitude in Ireland. UK dating is fun and lighthearted, and many people like to meet the old-fashioned way — at pubs. Just like in the US, many feel it's easier to date and find love in suburban areas. London and rural farm areas can be difficult.

9. Iceland

Iceland gets a decent spot on the list thanks to the high safety ranking, much like Japan and Singapore. People here can be super friendly, so meeting folk isn't too hard. Residents have a laidback attitude, typically meeting people at bars, through friends, or on dating apps. The focus is on connecting with someone without any pressure, so while marriage is common, it's not the end goal for most.

10. South Korea

South Korea is another country with a high safety ranking. We can't stress enough what a huge factor this is when you're looking for love. If you don't feel safe in your country, getting a date is likely not at the top of your priorities. The percentage of singles, marriages, and divorces is standard. A thing to be aware of is that traditional gender roles here are prevalent, and public displays of affection are frowned upon. However, the culture is slowly shifting to follow more Western dating habits, such as unmarried cohabitation.

11. Canada

Of course, Canada is a good place to find love. How could it not be when everyone is so friendly? Indeed, finding someone polite and kind is typically a breeze, but finding someone at all is the hurdle. Almost 40% of the population is single, which is excellent for people who want a partner. However, communities can be very spread out, and the dating scene is seasonal in many regions due to harsh winters. Just make sure to be ready when spring rolls around!

12. France

Dating in France is fascinating and differs from dating in the US in surprising ways. For example, the first kiss on the lips is a much bigger deal in France. For this reason, building a relationship can be slow-going, with the first few dates being friendly and casual, not romantic or steamy. The marriage rate is disproportionately low, as many French people will commit to a partner without marriage. Based on our research, we recommend practicing aloofness if you want to be successful.

13. Mexico

Frankly, Mexico sounds like an amazing place to fall in love. We're surprised it didn't score higher on the list, but all its statistics are moderate. Less than 35% of people are single, marriage and divorce rates fall toward the middle of the spectrum, and the safety ranking is also in the middle. Again, dating in moderately populated areas is best, and most people follow Western dating traditions. Men aim to be chivalrous, and women seek to be endearing, so it's not rocket science; it's just traditional.

14. Belgium

Belguim's statistics concerning dating are very similar to Mexico's, but the dating culture in Mexico moves a little faster. People in Belgium are more likely to be friends before beginning a romantic relationship, and even then, relationships progress very slowly and modestly. The country has a mix of modern and traditional dating perspectives, but things seem to move at a glacial pace no matter which end of the spectrum you're on. Finding love in Belgium is wonderful — if you're patient.

15. Norway

Norway makes the list, but just barely. With decent marriage and divorce rates and an excellent safety score, it seems it should be higher. The issue is that less than 30% of residents are single, so the dating pool is limited. Norway's dating culture is modern and subtle. Flirting is not always obvious, so keep a keen eye on it. Most residents have no gendered expectations or hangups, so equal partnerships are the vibe, not a damsel in distress and knight in shining armor. But like Belgium and France, things progress slowly, so don't rush it.

Searching for Soulmates
