With the prices of basic household items increasing, searching for bargains is more important than ever. Cutting coupons, buying items on sale, or purchasing items in bulk from a warehouse store are good ways to save money. But there’s an even better way: shopping at your local Dollar Tree.

You may be skeptical about shopping at a Dollar Tree, and while there are some things you don’t want to buy there, like batteries and electrical cords, there are legitimate bargains to be found if you know what to look for.

Before your next trip to the grocery or big box store, consider stopping at Dollar Tree first. You’d be amazed at how much money you’ll save buying these products.

1. Candles

Candle lovers will find a wide assortment of them at Dollar Tree. From flameless and LED candles and religious candles to tapers, scented jar candles, wax melts, and incense, there’s something available for most buyers.

Many stores sell similar candles for several dollars, and while they may not have the brand prestige of a Yankee Candle, Dollar Tree candles are serviceable and have a nice scent to them. It wouldn’t hurt to give them a try!

2. Candy and Gum

Shoppers who have a sweet tooth in their families or have one themselves are in for a treat at Dollar Tree. They sell full-size candy bars for $1.25 and boxes and bags of popular candies and gums for the same price. The hardest decision is which ones to buy.

In addition to regular candy, Dollar Tree has a good selection of sugar-free Russell Stover candy varieties, which aren’t exactly cheap at other retailers. When it comes to the price and choice of sweets, it’s hard to beat Dollar Tree.

3. Cleaners

The prices of kitchen and bathroom cleaners are high enough to have you consider making your own cleansers at home. You can save yourself the hassle by purchasing your household cleaning essentials at Dollar Tree’s low prices.

You’ll find all-purpose and bathroom cleaners, dish soaps, air fresheners, and floor and carpet care, all at deeply discounted prices compared to other stores. Dollar Tree proves that you don’t have to go broke to keep your house clean.

4. Facial Tissue

A product that you can use year-round and comes in handy during allergy season is facial tissue. You can buy them in single boxes for use at home, school, or the office, and miniature purse packs for when you’re on the go.

There are more expensive brands available at the big box and grocery stores, but why would you pay exponentially more money than you have to? Facial tissues are something you use once and throw away, so you should pay less for them.

5. First Aid Items

Building a first aid kit is easy and reasonably priced when shopping at Dollar Tree. You’ll find everything you need, like hydrogen peroxide, rubbing alcohol, bandages, ointment, exam gloves, gauze pads, and tape. They even have reusable ice bags for minor bumps and headaches.

Putting together a first aid kit with items from Dollar Tree is so economical that you can afford to have individual ones in your kitchen, bathroom, and your car. With these health items on hand, you’re fully prepared for those minor emergencies.

6. Floral Supplies

For those with an interest in floral arts and crafts who balk at the high prices charged by specialty craft stores, Dollar Tree can meet many of their needs. The store carries artificial flowers, vases, and floral foam, for starters.

No matter if you’re getting started in creating floral arts and crafts pieces or are a seasoned professional, the variety offered at the bargain retailer easily competes with other sellers in terms of quality, price, and selection.

7. Hair Accessories

Having a collection of hair styling tools and accessories is commonplace. It can also add up to some serious bucks over time. Buying your hair products at Dollar Tree helps you save so much money, you can afford to buy more.

The store has hair care staples like claw clips, ponytail holders, and ouchless hair ties. Did you know they also sell sleep bonnets, shower caps, and pretty headbands? Dollar Tree even sells head massagers, all for $1.25 each.

8. Mylar Balloons

It’s not unusual to pay $3 or more for inflated Mylar balloons. They bring a smile to people’s faces, so consumers are willing to pay extra for them. Dollar Tree has a wide selection of Mylar balloons for different occasions.

Birthdays, Valentine’s Day, bridal showers, and general celebratory mylar balloons are sold at low enough rates that you could buy a bouquet of them for under $10. To keep those balloons grounded, the store also sells weighted centerpieces.

9. Office and School Supplies

Office supplies are something that’s always needed, just like school supplies. Because they get so much use and usually need to be replaced frequently, it doesn’t make sense to pay top dollar for them when you could pay much less.

You can get pens, pencils, erasers, notebooks, and loose-leaf paper for the kids. For the workers in your family, there are sticky notes, journals, Sharpie pens, and binder clips. Many of the office and school supply needs for the entire house can be met in one place.

10. Disposable Dishware

Disposable plates, bowls, cups, utensils, and serveware are typically used at parties, baby showers, cookouts, and other gatherings. They can be purchased at your local grocery or big box store, but they cost a lot more than they would at Dollar Tree.

Different themes and colors are found in the retail chain, and the prices fit any party budget, no matter the size. The disposable dishware at Dollar Tree also works for everyday use as an inexpensive alternative to reusable dishware, serveware, and utensils.

11. Oral Hygiene Products

A basic necessity of any household is oral hygiene products like toothbrushes, toothpaste, dental floss, and mouthwash. Having them is an important element of overall health and wellness. Depending on where you shop, they can be costly.

At Dollar Tree, you can fulfill your family’s routine oral health needs at incredibly competitive prices. Some products are name brand and others are generic. Even if it turns out that you don’t like the product, at least you only spent $1.25 and not $4 to $7.

12. Picture Frames

Picture frames are one of those household items you don’t think about buying until you need one. When you buy them, you’re surprised at how much they cost regardless if they're made from wood, metal, plastic, or cardboard.

An assortment of picture frames are sold at Dollar Tree at prices low enough that you can afford to frame numerous photos and other keepsakes. Compare their frames to the ones you find at big box and craft stores, and the price difference will shock you.

13. Pregnancy Tests

The last place women would think of to buy a pregnancy test is Dollar Tree, and that’s understandable. Drug stores and the health section of big box stores are where they’re typically purchased. Those stores aren’t the only available options.

Surprisingly, the pregnancy tests sold at Dollar Tree have the same level of accuracy as their more expensive counterparts. The only thing that’s missing is the higher price tag. At Dollar Tree prices, you can afford to keep several on hand.

14. Reading Glasses

People who wear reading glasses frequently own several pairs because they lose or forget them, or they break. Designer reading glasses cost a lot more than regular ones, but the reading glasses at Dollar Tree are inexpensive.

For $1.50 a pair, wearers can stock up on them, and keep one or more pairs in different rooms in the house and the car. If they break or get lost, it’s not that big of a deal because they can be quickly and affordably replaced
