Throughout history, countless innovations, ideas, and concepts have the potential to be remarkable, enhance our lives, and bring about positive change. However, as the saying goes, “With great power comes great responsibility,” and too often, these promising prospects have been ruined by human actions. Here are 11 amazing things members of an online forum believe were sabotaged by people.

1. PlayStation Portable (PSP)

The Sony PSP was a groundbreaking handheld gaming device when it first hit the market. Its sleek design and impressive graphics garnered critical acclaim and sold over 80 million units. But, according to a member, the rise of smartphones gradually eclipsed the PSP's popularity. People opted for lower-quality mobile games like Subway Surfers, and Sony struggled to compete. Eventually, the PSP was phased out.

This friendly and inquisitive robot was made by two Canadian professors. It embarked on a remarkable journey to test whether robots could trust humans. The robot successfully hitchhiked through Canada, Germany, and the Netherlands, creating delightful memories along the way. However, during its fourth and final journey from Boston to San Francisco, Hitchbot met a tragic end in Philadelphia, where it was vandalized and destroyed.

3. Photoshop

While Photoshop is a powerful image manipulation and enhancement tool, it has become synonymous with humorous internet memes. Despite its immense potential for creating beautiful and meaningful images, it's often reduced to mere meme material. A user highlights its impactful use by mentioning the incident of a father who was left with only one photo of his baby before she passed away. Unfortunately, the photo showed her in the hospital, covered in tubes. Through Photoshop, he was able to remove the tubes and get a heartfelt picture of his little child.

4. Plastic Surgery

These days, getting plastic surgery has become as common as putting on makeup. Unfortunately, this procedure has become infamous and is looked down upon by the masses. However, the original purpose of it was for reconstructive surgeries for individuals who had undergone trauma, such as burn victims or those born with disfigured body parts.

5. Fan Fiction

A member shares that while fan fiction is an outlet for creative storytelling, it is also a source of poorly written and controversial content. While some of it is genuinely remarkable, many works fall short and only intend to spark gossip.

Baby Groot from the Marvel Cinematic Universe quickly became an iconic character, spawning merchandise and capturing hearts worldwide. However, his appeal was diminished when he matured in the sequel. A user comments, “By the end of the first movie, Groot was this cute little bundle of happiness. By the END of the second movie, Groot was this ugly adolescent, complete with sarcasm.”

7. Selfies

The concept of taking selfies, capturing personal memories, or meeting celebrities off-guard used to be heartwarming. It allowed people to document their experiences and connect with others. Unfortunately, selfies have now become absurd, with people even taking them in inappropriate locations like public restrooms. This overindulgence has taken away from its potential charm.

8. Social Media

Art, a medium of human expression, has produced masterpieces like the Mona Lisa. Yet, the appreciation of art is sometimes overshadowed by commercialization, theft, and even misinterpretation.
